John Deere has announced updates to its 6R Large and Xtra Large Frame tractor range for Model Year 2027, with improvements focused on road transport performance, operator comfort, Precision Agriculture capability, loader productivity and long-term serviceability. The updated range includes the 6R 180, 6R 200, 6R 220 and 6R 240 Large Frame models, alongside the 6R 230 and 6R 260 Xtra Large Frame models, with power outputs reaching up to 305hp with Intelligent Power Management.
A key focus of the MY27 update is improved ride comfort and road handling. The new Sport Package Pro brings together updates to suspension, steering and braking, including the latest TLS™ Pro front axle suspension, next-generation hydraulic cab suspension, a redesigned steering column and automotive-style pedals. These updates are designed to make the 6R even more stable, comfortable and precise both on the road and in the field.
The CommandView™ 4 cab has also been revised, offering more space, improved visibility and lower noise levels. A redesigned cab frame improves rear visibility, while interior updates include enhanced controls, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C ports, improved air conditioning and a premium seat option with greater swivel and adjustment.
For customers using Large and Xtra Large frame 6R tractors for professional loader work, John Deere has also introduced the new 665R and 685R front loaders. Developed specifically to complement the latest MY27 6R models, the new loaders are designed to improve visibility, productivity and ease of use in demanding material-handling applications.
Visibility has been a key development area, with an optional multi-position digital camera that can be mounted on the loader boom or torque tube and displayed through the tractor system. New latch-point cut-outs help operators confirm correct attachment from the cab, while a two-position bucket level indicator supports accurate attachment angles when changing between buckets, bale spikes or pallet forks.
The 665R and 685R loaders also benefit from revised geometry, providing an additional 8 degrees of rollback angle to help reduce spillage and improve load retention. This makes them well suited to repetitive loading tasks such as silage handling, manure loading, bale handling and bulk material movement. Optional Technology Package features, including Dynamic Weighing System, Level to Horizon and Return to Position, can further support productivity and ease of operation.
Precision Farming capability is also strengthened across the MY27 6R range. Tractors are delivered with a StarFire™ 7500 integrated receiver, G5 CommandCenter™ and JDLink™ modem, enabling access to guidance, automation and connected farming tools, subject to licence selection. Features such as AutoPath™, AutoTrac™ Turn Automation, In-field Data Sharing, DataSync and Operations Center™ integration help improve accuracy, simplify job setup and support better fleet and field management.
Serviceability has also been improved, with ground-level service checks, extended service intervals, remote diagnostics, Expert Alerts and Remote Display Control helping to support uptime and reduce downtime. The new 665R and 685R loaders also support easier maintenance, with a central greasing system, separate electrical and hydraulic connections and a future-ready electrical architecture that allows features such as suspension, lights, camera or Technology Package options to be added later.
The 6R 240 and 6R 260 are highlighted as key models for contractors and large arable businesses. The 6R 240 offers a strong power-to-weight ratio and compact wheelbase, making it well suited to a wide range of contracting tasks. At the top of the range, the 6R 260 delivers up to 305hp with IPM and introduces the new e19™ full powershift transmission, designed to provide smooth gear changes, strong pulling performance and confident road transport.
For contractors, arable farms and high-output mixed farming businesses, the updated 6R range offers more comfort, more connected technology, improved loader compatibility and the power needed for demanding field, transport and material-handling work.
