John Deere Introduces Updated 8R, 8RT and 8RX Tractors for Model Year 2027

John Deere has announced the next generation of its 8R, 8RT and 8RX tractor range for Model Year 2027, with updates focused on higher productivity, improved drivetrain efficiency, enhanced cab comfort and advanced Precision Agriculture capability.

The updated 8 Series covers 8R wheeled tractors from 280 to 410hp, with 8RT and 8RX models available from 310 to 410hp. Designed for large-scale farming operations, the range is built to deliver strong performance across heavy draft work, seeding, PTO applications, transport and mixed field operations.

A key focus of the update is turning engine power into usable field performance. The 8R 410 delivers up to 20% more drawbar power, helping operators work with wider implements, cover more ground and increase capacity without necessarily adding another tractor to the fleet.

Operator comfort has also been improved with the latest CommandView™ 4 cab. Updates include soft-close door technology, push-button start, wireless phone charging, improved wiper coverage, personalised settings and a redesigned CommandARM™ with CommandX™ Plus or CommandX™ Pro controls. On 8RX models, the CommandView™ 4 Plus cab removes the right-hand console, increasing legroom and improving side visibility to the implement.

The updated 8 Series has also been designed with seeding and mixed operations in mind. Efficient drivetrain performance, favourable weight distribution, Central Tyre Inflation System options and the four-track 8RX configuration help reduce ground pressure and protect soil structure. Intelligent Power Management ensures the tractor delivers the power required for the job, supporting efficiency when full output is not needed.

Precision Agriculture capability is built into every MY27 8R, 8RT and 8RX tractor, with integrated receiver technology, G5Plus CommandCenter™ display and JDLink™ connectivity. Features such as AutoTrac™ Turn Automation, AutoPath™, variable rate and depth control, Passive Implement Guidance, Operations Center™ integration and in-field data sharing help simplify setup, improve accuracy and support more efficient working.

The range is also prepared for the future, with all models ready to be retrofitted with John Deere autonomy technology.

Maintenance and uptime have been improved through ground-level service checks, display-based maintenance alerts, remote diagnostics, Expert Alerts and Remote Display Control. The updated machine bus provides access to up to 2,000 remote diagnostic data points, helping service teams identify issues faster and support proactive machine care.

For large arable farms, contractors and high-output businesses, the updated 8R, 8RT and 8RX range offers the power, comfort, technology and efficiency required for demanding fieldwork and future-focused fleet management.
